ALEXANDER, VA, August 2, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Russell F. McKinnon, President of International Theos Foundation, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in organizational development.

While serving as a naval officer in central and south America and combat officer in Vietnam, Mr. McKinnon came face-to-face with people who had no food, shelter, little clothing or education. This experience inspired him to one day give something back and help make a difference. With a background in community outreach and association management, he has gained nearly 40 years of experience in his field. He oversees all functions of the organization, in addition to researching various nonprofit organizations, and distributing funds to organizations that offer critical humanitarian aid.

A firm believer in spreading democracy, Mr. McKinnon's philosophy is that it is only when people's basic life necessities are met that they are able to fully embrace democracy. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in History from the College of the Holy Cross, followed with a Master of Arts in Management from The George Washington University.

A certified association executive through the American Society of Association Executives, Mr. McKinnon is a member of GWSCPA and the Finance and Administration Roundtable, and is the treasurer of the Association of Meeting Planners. In the coming years, he expects to take on more consulting work, coaching organizations on expense reduction and quality control.
