SEATTLE, WA, August 1, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ --Cristy Cathey, Registered Nurse, has been recognized as a VIP member by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in nursing.

Ms. Cathey is a nursing specialist noted for the quality of her work in the operating room. With more than three decades of professional experience in the health care field, she scrubs and circulates on orthopedic, ENT plastic and general surgery cases. She does physical assessments pre-operatively and assists anesthesia when needed. In addition, she acts as a point of contact for families and educates patients and their families about surgical procedures. She works coordinating the care of the patient from the initial interview through the surgical process, the recovery period and helps at times with discharging the patient. Recognized as an advocate in her field, she is equipped to train and support fellow nursing professionals.

Driven by the desire to make a difference in the lives of others, Ms. Cathey made the decision to pursue a career in nursing. She enjoys working with patients of all ages and attributes her success to hard work and her persevering nature. As she moves forward in her career, Ms. Cathey intends to shift her focus from the operating room to an RN Nurse Advocate.

Ms. Cathey holds a Bachelor of Science in nursing from Walla Walla College (now Walla Walla University). An honored VIP member of Cambridge Who's Who, she is affiliated with Association of Operating Room Nurses and The American Society of Plastic Surgical Nurses. Outside of work, Ms. Cathey enjoys long-distance bike riding, golf, gardening and volunteering with the Multiple Sclerosis Society, Susan G. Komen for the Cure and Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America Northwest Chapter.
