HARTWELL, GA, August 2, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Beth Stormont, Director of the Northeast Georgia Lifelong Learning Institute, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in higher education.

Dr. Stormont has long stood as a paradigm of professionalism in the field of higher education, fulfilling a myriad of roles in the field without looking back, and maintaining goals to accomplish more feats as a motivator, teacher and lecturer. She shines as an expert in program coordination, education and musical direction. With more than half-a-century of experience under her belt, Dr. Stormont currently performs and listens to classical music, writes philosophical and spiritual prose and poetry, and composes music. She also plays the pipe organ, piano, string bass and harp, and directs choral groups.

Her new capacity as Director of the Northeast Georgia Lifelong Learning Institute allows Dr. Stormont to work with presenters and members of the recently created Lifelong Learning Institute and to select and schedule classes for the continuing education of its members. She also makes herself available to people, listens to and ascertains their varied needs and desires, and helps them to achieve their goals in their ongoing learning experiences. She works toward achieving community outreach initiatives, and consults with council and class members, offering entrepreneurial guidance through a spiritual and philosophical approach.

Dr. Stormont has held a number of positions prior to her current roles as a program director, educator and musician. Immediately prior to coming to Georgia a year ago, she served a highly-successful 5-year tenure as Coordinator for the Lifelong Learning program of Rio Salado College in Central Arizona. She has served as a professor at Glendale Community College and at Palomar College in San Diego. She has also lectured at the University of Southern California School of Performing Arts, and taught in Los Angeles County schools and the Orange County school system. Additionally, Dr. Stormont has been a training specialist for the Automobile Club of Southern California, a professional organist and choir director for liturgical churches, a string bassist in symphony orchestras, and a guest speaker at the Music Teachers Association and the Choral Conductor's Guild (now the National Association of Church Musicians). Dr. Stormont is also a grammarian who has spent some time as a copy editor and proofreader. She has taught English in America and also in Europe, which ties in with her love of travel.

Dr. Stormont believes that her perseverance, dedication, ability to give 100+ percent effort, openness to experience, learn and grow from life, her spirituality, and love for what she does are what have made her successful in all her endeavors. She also credits her success to her academic preparation. She earned a Doctor of Musical Arts in performing arts from The University of Southern California in 1977, and also holds a Master of Arts in Music from Occidental College and a Bachelor of Arts in Education from California State University at Long Beach.
