Ednola Martin has received Outstanding Service Awards from the City of Oakland, The California Park and Recreation Society, and the Ethnic Minority Association of California
OAKLAND, CA, June 2, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Ednola Martin, retired Recreation Center Director for the City of Oakland Office of Parks and Recreation, and a graduate of U.C. Berkeley, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in recreation services.
As a recreation center director for the City of Oakland Office of Parks and Recreation, Ms. Martin was able to utilize her exceptional skills relating to fitness programs, gardening, and arts and crafts. She was responsible for planning, designing and executing leisure activities for children, adults and senior citizens of Oakland, California for 49 years.
Those activities included crafts, fitness, music, cooking, sports and games. Ms. Martin also facilitated rentals to city residents for special occasions, such as weddings, banquets, dances and meetings. She pioneered a recreation on wheels service to underserved areas of East Oakland during the Ford Foundation Project.
Ms. Martin received numerous formal honors in recognition of her work including Outstanding Service Awards from the City of Oakland, the California Parks and Recreation Society, and the Ethnic Minority Association of California.
The City of Oakland Office of Parks and Recreation oversees 100 parks and public grounds, 25 recreation centers, and a wide array of cultural, educational, environmental and recreational programs.
