Shelia Brown-Lake Recognized for Excellence in Special Education
Shelia Brown-Lake is actively involved as a volunteer for communal and national efforts

HOUSTON, TX, September 10, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Shelia Brown-Lake, Support Facilitator for the Aldine Independent School District, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in special education.

A support facilitator at the Aldine Independent School District, Ms. Brown-Lake maintains an expertise in mathematics and social work. In her position, she aids middle-school-aged children affected by physical and mental disabilities such as autism. She also conducts oral and specialty tests for students with Irlen Syndrome.

Ms. Brown-Lake's goal is to connect with her community and improve its social wellbeing. She volunteers for relief missions that help the victims of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. In the past, she was involved with an effort that aided 30 homeless people in New Orleans, providing them with food, shelter and clothing.

At Texas Southern University, Ms. Brown-Lake is pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in psychology. Affiliated with The Worship Center, she is a member of the Council for Exceptional Children. She aims to complete a master's degree in professional counseling at Grand Canyon University and, afterwards, a doctorate.
