Professor Soma Wali, MD Celebrates 12 years of Accomplishments in Medical Education and Global Health

Los Angeles, CA, September 13, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Professor Soma Wali, Program Director and Vice-Chairwoman of education in Department of Medicine at Olive View-UCLA Medical Center, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in medical education and global health.

Dr. Wali completed her residency and chief residency in Internal Medicine at UCLA-Olive View program having received her MD from the School of Medicine at the University of Illinois at Chicago in 1994, and her Bachelor's Degree in Psychobiology from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1990.

Dr. Wali has served as the Residency Program Director for Internal Medicine since 2003 and the Clerkship Director for UCLA medical students since 2000. Most recently, she was appointed the Vice-Chairwoman for education at Olive View-UCLA Medical Center. She is currently an Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine in the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. Dr. Wali's involvement in medical education has earned her numerous awards for excellence in medical education. She is the recipient of the prestigious award of Excellence in Medical Education as well as the Golden Apple Award of Excellence in Teaching from UCLA School of Medicine. She also received other prestigious awards such as the Clinician Educator Award from Society of General Internal Medicine and the Laureate Award from American College of Physicians.

Dr. Wali has devoted her career to academic medicine, medical education and helping patients who can not afford medical care at home and around the world.
