Matthew Oltman Honored by Cambridge Who's Who
Matthew Oltman's lifelong passion for music led him to become the music director of a Grammy Award-winning musical group
SAN FRANCISCO, CA, December 8, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Matthew Oltman, Music Director of Chanticleer, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in the interpretation and arrangement of music.
With three years of experience as the music director of Chanticleer, Mr. Oltman is responsible for leading rehearsals, choosing repertoire and performance themes, performing administrative duties, working with composers and staff, scheduling, and interpreting and arranging music. Mr. Oltman has been with Chanticleer since 1999. He is the second music director in Chanticleer's history, having been appointed to the position in 2009. He became involved in his profession through his childhood passion for music, and he attributes his success to his exceptional educational opportunities, strong work ethic and good fortune.
Mr. Oltman received a Master of Arts in music performance from the University of York in 1999, having received a bachelor's degree in music and performance from Simpson College in 1997. He is a member of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, Chorus America, the American Choral Directors Association, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity of America Inc., and Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity Inc. Chief among Mr. Oltman's many distinctions is his Grammy Award, presented to him by The Recording Academy.
Chanticleer, a Grammy Award-winning a capella chorus group, was founded in 1978 and is entering its 33rd season. The group tours all over the world recording its music, which is available through the group's website.
