Mr. Jose M. Rivera Jr. is a veteran of the United States Marines

RACINE, WI, December 23, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Jose M. Rivera Jr., Supervisor at Kern International, Inc., has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in the provision of electrical mechanical machinery and components.

Mr. Rivera served in the U.S. military for seven and a half years. During his service as a Marine, he participated in Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm for almost a year. In June 1996, he was honorably discharged as a sergeant. He then returned home to Chicago, lll. to his wife and daughter Marisa.

In July of 1996, he began working for a high volume manufacturing company where he developed a new interest in machine manufacturing. At the same time, his management team recognized his leadership ability and promoted him to the position of assistant supervisor of manufacturing within his first six months of employment. Thus began his role as a leader in managing people. Through the years, he attended numerous leadership courses and training to develop his skills. Along with his hands-on experience and mentoring by peers and leaders, he excelled in this new role.

Mr. Rivera then had the opportunity to pursue his interest in the manufacturing industry as a technician by attending school. He saw it as a way to lead by example, to be able to not only lead and supervise others but to able to instruct his fellow employees by having an accredited degree in the field. For the next five-and-a-half years, he attended night school while working full-time during the day to provide for his family. Mr. Rivera gives credit to his wife Sandra for the support and guidance she has given him over the years and his five children Marisa, Manuel, Jose, Isabel and Maribel. He feels that his success in this field will only benefit his family more and he looks forward to the challenge that awaits him at the next level.

Mr. Rivera received both his Associate Degree in Automated Systems (2009) and his Associate Degree in Electromechanical Engineering (2008) from Gateway Technical College with Honors, where he made the Dean's List each year from 2005-2009. Additionally, he is a certified production technician, and holds a Managing Task Leading People Certification (MTLP) and a DOT HM 181 Hazardous Material certificate from the Manufacturing Skill Standards Council. He also ARGO completed training in lean manufacturing. Mr. Rivera is a member of the Electrical Technicians Association and the National Honor Society. Outside of work, he serves as a coach for the Wisconsin Youth Soccer Association. In the future, he aspires to grow professionally within his company.
