Dr. Martha O'Brien Showcases Professional Brand through Cambridge Who's Who
Ms. O'Brien, Ph.D., is a mental health professional with 40 years of practice

LAKELAND, FL, December 27, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Martha J. O'Brien, Supervisor of Counselor Interns at the University of South Florida Polytechnic, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in education.

With 40 years of professional experience, Dr. O'Brien maintains a proficiency in childhood psychiatric disorders. After teaching for many years, she realized the need for a support system that connects parents and students in the classroom and community. As the supervisor of counselor interns, Dr. O'Brien oversees interns, teaches legal and ethical issues to students and mental health therapists, and counsels individuals with substance abuse issues and other addictive disorders. Being a motivational speaker at professional conferences and conventions, Dr. O'Brien also advocates awareness of behavior disorders in students throughout the State of Florida.

She is the author of two books, "Power Tools for Kids" and "The Ladder of Life." Dr. O'Brien is also the co-author of "Power Tools for Parents." She lends her accomplishments to the mentoring and professional support she received throughout her career.

In 1993, Dr. O'Brien earned a Ph.D. in counselor education from Walden University. Licensed in mental health and teaching in the state of Florida, she is also a licensed professional counselor. Dr. O'Brien belongs to the American Counseling Association, and has been recognized for her work in community education prevention activities, by the Drug Prevention Resource Center. Additionally, Dr. O'Brien was awarded Outstanding Educator by the Polk City elementary school. In her spare time, she volunteers for her local First Presbyterian Church, the Board of Interact Alliance and United Way Worldwide. Dr. O'Brien aspires to have the Lakeland, Fla. campus of the University of South Florida Polytechnic, nationally recognized for its counseling education department.
