Business Development, etc. He has lead critical "go-to-market: roles in Sales, Marketing and Business Development at Cisco, Sun Microsystems and Digital Equipment Corporation, as well as rapid-growth entrepreneurial organizations including GridApp Systems, DataSynapse, and Platform Computing. Mr. Maples established direct and channel sales organizations, built marketing and business development groups, and created partnerships with companies such as IBM, Intel, HP, Oracle, AMD and Sun. Mr. Maples spearheaded Sun Microsystems services rebirth, transforming Sun Western Tech Services business into a complete services company, growing a $10M business to $100M in 22 months. At Platform Computing he led U.S. software sales operations where he grew sales from $3 million to $35 million in three years. Mr. Maples has also led the northwestern U.S. sales operations for NeTpower and Sun Microsystems, delivering significant and rapid revenue growth for both organizations.
From Mr. Maples' early work within large companies, like Digital Equipment, Sun and Cisco, to his recent roles leading and investing in earlier stage companies, his entrepreneurial record is as a market leader introducing advanced technology and solving new problems. He co-founded Streamvision, a streaming video company and Silicon Valley Resources and acted in CEO, executive or advisory roles at m2mi corporation, Modviz, Optena and Tiva Systems. He received a BS in Business and Psychology from the University of Dubuque in Iowa and pursued a MBA at the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, Washington.
Mr. Maples is active in education, mentoring, and community service, and serves as a regular guest speaker at Stanford University continuing education programs.
