Cambridge Who's Who Names Isbel Torres, MS Professional of the Year in Quality Engineering & Process Improvement
Isbel Torres, MS, streamlines operations at Covidien as she strives to keep improving herself

MANSFIELD, MA, December 31, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Isbel Torres, Senior Black Belt and Line Optimization Supervisor for Covidien, has been named a Cambridge Who's Who Professional of the Year in Quality Engineering & Process Improvement. While inclusion in the Cambridge Who's Who Registry is an honor, only a small selection of members in each discipline are chosen for this distinction. These special honorees are distinguished based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities, years of service, and the credentials they have provided in association with their Cambridge Who's Who membership.

Isbel Torres has 11 years of experience in quality engineering and process improvement. An expert in Six Sigma and mechanical design, she was appointed line optimization supervisor of Covidien, a leading manufacturer of health care products and medical devices. In this capacity, she is charged with operating excellence and quality areas to improve current processes and to develop people, lead teams and improve training. She is also tasked with developing support systems for the plant and working with suppliers to streamline day-to-day activities.

Committed to the cause of constant improvement, even in herself, Ms. Torres always strives to add to her skills and enhance her knowledge. She became a Six Sigma Master Black Belt and a Certified Quality Engineer through the American Society for Quality. Presently, she is pursuing her second master's degree, a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering, at Purdue University.

Ms. Torres earned a Master of Science in Operations Management in 2005 from Pontificia Universidad Catolica Madre y Maestra in the Dominican Republic. She remains an active member of the American Society for Quality.
