Sharon Goodwin attends to 983 inmates in the medical unit of the Harnett Correctional Institution

LILLINGTON, NC, November 15, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Sharon L. Goodwin, RN, Staff Nurse for the Medical Division at the Harnett Correctional Institution, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in medical, surgical and cardiac nursing.

With 20 years of professional experience, Ms. Goodwin has spent the last five of these years at the Harnett Correctional Institution. As a staff nurse, she is responsible for offering routine and postoperative care to inmates in the medical unit. She works with about 983 individuals in the medical unit, makes assessments, schedules appointments outside of the clinic, and performs lab work. She also leads various chronic disease clinics and acts as an emergency first responder.

A registered nurse, she graduated from Pima Community College with an Associate of Applied Science in nursing; she was awarded high honors and believes that attending college later in her life is her greatest professional accomplishment. She holds certifications in physical therapy, advanced cardiac life support and basic life support. An American Red Cross volunteer, Ms. Goodwin is a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Society and the American Association of Critical Care Nurses. In the future, she intends to earn a Bachelor of Science in nursing and become a nurse practitioner.
