FARMINGTON, NM, November 23, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ --Alberta Chappell, Owner of Bernina Sewing Center of Four Corners, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in entrepreneurship.

With over five decades of professional experience, Ms. Chappell has owned the sewing machine dealership, Bernina Sewing Center of Four Corners, for seven years. As the owner of her company, she is responsible for overseeing the store's daily operations and teaching sewing classes. She sells embroidery, sewing machines, long-arm quilting machines, and high quality fabrics.

At the age of 58, Ms. Chappell moved from Dallas, Texas to Farmington, N.M. After becoming an authorized Berina dealer, she attained great success in her community. She has been honored with a 2003 Rookie Dealer of the Year award, a 2004 Emerging Entrepreneur award, and the 2005 New York Life Phoenix Award. She was also recognized with a trip to Switzerland for her performance as a dealer in 2008. In 2009, she accepted an offer from Janome, a manufacturer of sewing machines, to become an authorized dealer; this further helped her to establish her business.

Prior to owning a sewing store, Ms. Chappell worked from home as a couture dressmaker and freelance sewing educator. In 1967, she received a Bachelor of Business Administration in secondary education. Driven by her creativity and love for fashion, she pursued her passions, completing a master's degree in fashion design and merchandising at the University of North Texas in 1988.

Ms. Chappell is an active volunteer in her community. She donates quilts to cancer survivors, donates sewing machines to a sewing program for senior citizens, and supports the troops. In 2006, she was named an honorary member of 4H in the State of New Mexico. She is a member of her local better business bureau and chamber of commerce. Ms. Chappell is also affiliated with Girl Scouts of America and 4-H Clubs.
