Phyllis B. Sledge Named to Exclusive Membership Organization
Co-founder Jeannie Schmidt Free Clinic, First in Fairfax County, Virginia

ASHBURN, VA, October 5, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Phyllis B. Sledge, Assistant Principal for Fairfax County Public Schools, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for dedication, leadership and excellence in education. With more than 40 years of professional experience, Ms Sledge attributes her success to the support that she receives from peers, mentors, school personnel, community and other professional learning resources. As an Assistant Principal she manages human, fiscal and material resources needed to run a school which produces successful and competent students. Areas in which she demonstrates expertise include: supervising the alignment, coordination, and delivery of assigned programs and/or curriculum; coordinating inclusion models for the delivery of curriculum for Special Education and English for Second Language Learners, serving as School Test Coordinator to ensure accuracy and compliance in the implementation of the of the Division's testing program, and analyzing and sharing test data with teachers and school personnel to drive instruction at her school.

Ms Sledge, who received a Master's Degree in Educational Leadership from George Mason University, has affiliations with numerous organizations including National Organization of Elementary School Principals, Virginia Association of Elementary School Principals, and Phi Delta Kappa. Ms Sledge serves as Clinical Faculty for interns from local universities including Marymount University in Virginia.

She is a co•founder of the Jeannie Schmidt Free Clinic in Herndon, Virginia, the first free clinic established in Fairfax County, Virginia. She serves as a member of the Board of Directors. During the first years of operation, the Clinic focus was to provide uninsured and under-insured children with free school and sports physicals, so they could access the free public school education provided by Fairfax County. Medical assistance was provided until the children found a medical home. Today the Clinic's expanded services provide medical care to uninsured children on a routine basis as well as uninsured adults with diabetes and/or hypertension.

She combines outstanding work experience, formal education and specialized training to enhance the growth of organizations with which she works in the field of education as well as civic projects.
