Gudrun Wittgen Gilbert Inducted into Cambridge Who's Who
Gudrun Wittgen Gilbert keeps the ancient and almost lost art of silhouette cutting alive
HILLSDALE, MI, October 1, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Gudrun Wittgen, Artist and Owner of Gudi's Collection, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in business management.
With 20 years of overall professional experience. Gudrun Wittgen currently creates silhouette paper cut-outs of virtually any subject (although her favorites are fairy lands, nature, animals, birds and flowers), known as "Scherenschnitt," for wedding and anniversary invitations, birth announcements and retirement parties. She also conducts art workshops in order to educate people about the art of silhouette cutting and its history. Mrs. Wittgen grew up in Germany, arrived in the U.S. in 1973, and eventually started her own business.
A member of the Guild of American Papercutters, Mrs. Wittgen has been featured in newspaper and magazine articles and interviewed for television specials. Her work is exhibited in numerous galleries and museums, and she has received various awards. She counts art and humane societies among her favorite causes.
